  1. Might be some archeologists! This warm and dry weather makes it easier to catch discolourations in soil and crops that may lead to archaeological finds!

  2. That’s early for the yearly run from AIV.

Normally they cover Flanders every year, but during the winter time (so it’s easier to spot buildings through the canopy.

Images can be consulted freely on geopunt.be (after processing, which takes a few months).

Or maybe they’re doing a new summer run. The old one is almost a decade old.

  3. I bet that’s my boss checking if I am really working, he is capable even on his holidays.

  4. Plane OO-VSB is owned by surveying company VanSteelandt.

For which goal they’re mapping the area is utter speculation. Besides them and the client, it’s nobody’s business.

From the area they’re covering, I’m presuming it’s kadaster related.

  5. Meanwhile Wallonia is flying a kite with a super 8. Flanders is also the only region to have really high definition DEM data. I’m a bit envious of how recent and qualitative your data (about anything) is in general.

  6. As far as I understood from more specialised subreddits, these are survey-planes and sourcing public imagery is not part of their job.
