  1. Are police not being sacked because numbers have been reduced so much over recent years, and given the limits of training spaces, cannot easily be replaced? For matters that say ten years ago would have meant sacking.

  2. > It is a criminal offence, under s117 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to misuse a badge. Under Fraud Act 2006, it is a fraudulent offence to use a fake badge, a stolen badge or the badge of someone who is deceased.

I guess the general public is held to higher standards nowadays.

    > If you are suspected of committing a criminal offence, you will be interviewed under caution by the police. If you are charged, you will face prosecution. Following a conviction, you will receive a conviction for fraud on your criminal record and a possible fine of up to £1000.

I guess they couldn’t prove he was using it despite of admitting to the crime. /s

  3. This isn’t a sackable offence. What the police office did is wrong and so should be fined according to the law. It’s a private vehicle so it has nothing to do with the officers job.

If you disagree then if you are caught speeding, forget to MOT your car, park in a disabled bay or child & parent bay, park on double yellows, not pay a parking ticket etc, then you should lose your job.

  4. Rules are rules.

Bend them for one, then bend then for all right?

The guys a police officer ffs. Regardless of personal/emotional circumstances he is duty bound to set a good example
