Every year Norway sends a Christmas tree to the UK to thank Britain for its support during the Second World War. What did we do to anger you guys this year?

  1. Embarrassing ….. I think this also happened a few years back when the tree somehow got exposed to saltwater during shipment 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

  2. A lot of trees in Norway have gotten fewer and smaller branches the last year’s, also for it to be full it has to be exposed to wind regularly and often. Is a genuine problem that our trees are getting worse. I’m no expert, but I expect it’s because of high harvesting rates. Also it takes years for trees to reach that hight.

  3. Brexit. You fired OGS. High gas prices driving our electricity prices up. Piers Morgan. The S*N. Prince Andrew.

    Shall I go on?

  4. We need some fresh sacrifice of British blood, for Odin to be pleased. Our trees and harvest has grown weak. You have not kept your end of the bargain, in the sacred covenant signed in blood by Churchill and Haakon.

  5. Expensive electricity. It happened after Norway did a deal with UK (is it a coincidence?)

  6. I’m sure it looked really nice before they shipped it over. The mayor of Oslo literally takes some time out of her busy day each year to be there when they cut it. I think it’s a beautiful gesture. We’ve done it every year since 1947, but the brits seem to always be dissatisfied with the gift, so maybe it’s time to stop wasting time and money on it?

  7. Let me guess, you didn’t have a lorry driver available, so you dragged the tree by hand from the docks through the streets of London to Trafalgar Square.

  8. Sort of unrelated, but does everyone in Britain put a lord Nelson figure on top of their Christmas tree or is it just this one?

  9. I made this joke to my colleagues (I live in Norway) and they looked really offended. Perhaps my delivery was as bad as theirs…

  10. Pick 1. Our electricity so you can see the tree, and realize we have to use the trees available for hest since our electricity is too dann expensive now

Or not see the tree 🤷

In this case i feel its not an actual dilemma. However Imagine the trees you used to get.

  11. This is as intended. We’re trying to out-IKEA IKEA. Just go into your local forest and find some branches and style this tree-prefab to your liking. Hope you like it. Peace and merry Christmas!

  12. Fun fact the Netherlands does something similair but with more story to Canada. They send us thousands of tulip bulbs for providing a safe place for a princess to stay during the war, as well as how we made a small chunk of Canada a part of the Netherlands so that the princess’s daughter could keep her place in the line for the throne by being born on Netherlands soil! Plus how we liberated much of the Netherlands!

Glad to here the Norwegians are just as grateful and generous in their remeberence. Makes me proud of my heritage!
