Hello Icelanders — I’m looking for an Icelandic actor OR a passionate adventurer to play the lead in a short film.

I am a filmmaker from the U.S, working on a short film at NES Artist Residency in Skagaströnd. It’s going to be an adventurous and fun project, and I’m hoping to find someone who has a bit of spirit for art and collaborative creating. This is a passion project, a bit of a psychological/mythological drama.

Film and character description below. The film is in Icelandic, but this role has very few speaking lines. Acting experience is not essential. Just someone who is up to go for it and have fun with a small and eager film crew. We’re shooting some in the South and some in and around Skagaströnd up North. When traveling, you’d be able to travel with us, and we’d put you up, etc.

Need to have some availability December 1st-12th. Shooting is flexible, but especially on weekends.

Synopsis
Guðmundur, a fisherman, dreams of legends of a mystical lighthouse keeper. Guðmundur wakes up on his boat and discovers he can no longer speak. His friends and family try to help him, but no one knows what is wrong with him. He becomes confused and depressed, and he decides to venture into the wilderness to escape the pain. He battles the supernatural forces that have fractured his identity, and discovers the truth behind legends of the lighthouse keeper.

THE ROLE:

Guðmundur: (Male, age 30s-50s) The main character & fisherman. He is lost in life and cannot speak. He goes mad in the wilderness — *physically and emotionally demanding*.
