>But landlords say they face financial struggles and costs must be passed on
Article text:
>Has there ever been a tougher time to be a landlord?
I’m going to go with no and break out *the tiniest violin*
>worst of all, as Tim Hassell, of Draker Lettings, puts it: ‘You are absolutely hated. You are publicly vilified.’
Oh the poor landlord exploiting poorer people for profit, must honestly be so tough supporting or having your entire income made up of money that other people have done all the work for.
> Since then, landlords have had little respite as soaring buy-to-let mortgage rates make it harder for investors to break even.
N’awwhh, poor landlords are finding it harder to find people to pay their entire mortgage for them.
easiest way to ‘beat’ landlords is to move to the areas where they’re buying up property. they’re paying fuck all for these houses and the average person should easily be able to compete for them.
Some of the prices in that article are staggering, group rentals around 2-3k per month? In most of the larger cities in the uk. The prices in the cities do affect prices in the rest of the country. As the market moves and new and old investors try to increase their returns, it creeps up quickly.
We need to protect our rental market from such fluctuations or it will(and is) seriously affecting the labour market.
A couple more years like this and we’re going to be having to pay housing benefits to everyone or not have any low to mid tier wages anymore.
you would have thought the housing crisis would be more important to the government than it is, if people can barely afford housing and energy they wont spend anywhere else
not that there will be any place to spend it other than amazon, starbucks and the other big corps as all the little places will have shut down
