No, just keep walking and don’t make eye contact. They can sense weakness.
I wouldn’t say so, unless you’re deathly alergic to blackberries, in which case you may want to get a second opinion
Avoid the ones at dog height…
Only if they’re roadside and you’re hit by a car.
They’re blackberries
Wait a month and pick ’em then….leave the red ones…
I had to upvote all the answers, they’re all pretty good
If they haven’t been sprayed, you’ll be fine.
Yes, they’ll give you Berryberry.
These are blackberries, you might have seen them in the shop before. Just like raspberries, but black. Pick them, wash them and eat them. Nothing will happen to you.
Edit : just like raspberries in size, not taste, just to be clear.
Too much (of anything) will kill you.
Black ones are ripe, red ones not… Pick them wash them, make some jam, some no churn ice cream…
It will be September soon and they will all be ripe – I’ve seen people looking them up on an App – I can’t believe it
Bu then my daughter reminded me that a fellow pupil in her class did not know what brambles were.
Pick them in a field with the field owners permission not on the road side.
If they do, make sure to let us all know
Of diabetes, maybe.
City Boy.
When’s the last time you have touched grass
No just don’t pick any of them below your waistline because you don’t know if any animals been pissing on them
You should be grand as long as you remove the branches, leaves and thorns.
Don’t eat after rain and never after Halloween, as the púca spits on them.
I think I know this bush. You live off south circular?
Rince off the rat piss and the car fumes and you’ll be grand.
I picked a load of them recently and was told to let them soak in a spoonful of Baking Soda and water .. it gets all the shit out of them.. made some Jam it was Grand !
My inner boomer is seething
You night find a maggot inside but that’s about all. They’re full of protein anyway so you’re good.
Pick as many as you can to fill a bucket, divide into bowls filled with a water and mildly-strong vinegar solution, leave to soak overnight – this will clear out any bugs. Wash the following day to eat with ice-cream or make jam
are there many people in Ireland who’ve never seen blackberries?
Poor lad has never seen a blackberry
the red ones are the good, however if you are lucky enough to find a green one, they are the best
I gather them with my kids. It’s a great way to connect them to nature. They make lovely jam. Will aim to make a few kilos worth. Just don’t pick them too low, or near a busy road. We were getting some today and a lady with a baby in a carrier asked me if they were safe. It was kinda funny, I was with two of my kids and my daughter had a full blackberry beard. I reassured her that I was not an irresponsible person and wouldn’t dream of allowing my kids do anything unsafe. A minute before she came along we were trying to push each other into a pile of deer shit.
These make the most delectable preserve, Bramble Jelly.
Also lovely with apples in a pie.
Do it, do it, do it.
Only if you let them
Everything could kill you. Stay indoors and order out.

If you go the jam route use this:

I’ve already collected a couple of tubs of them for the freezer, they are delicious
I’m forever eating them when I come across them out walking or whatever. Don’t pick the ones that you could piss on and you’re good to go
Will eating blackberries kill you? Are ya actually serious?
A walking stick is useful to reach the best ones.
They are brambles. They are only poisonous if you call them blackberries. They don’t like it, you know.
Pick from top to middle , wash and enjoy the free juice
Get them into you!
Pick 4 mugs full of blackberrys
Add 1 mug of sugar, no water
And boil that shit for a good 45 mins
You now have black berry jam
Eat them when they’re slightly ripe, you can pick the firm black ones now.
First rinse in salted water, to draw out the white worms. Then store in fridge.
