Gardai and sex workers in Ireland.
The Nordic Model was known to lead to police violence against sex workers when the Irish govt passed the 2017 law.
These horrifying testimonies from sex workers in #Ireland are eerily similar to sex worker accounts in Norway, Sweden, Canada, Northern Ireland & France pre-2017. pic.twitter.com/DPj2kf8PCf

Interesting story, terrible title OP, and the framing of the tweet by another tweet is a bit off because there’s no Nordic models on the streets of Dublin as far as I can see.
I think those young N.W.A kids might have had a valid point…
I studied this in Sociology and thought it was a joke how the actual sex workers were excluded from the decision making processes. Frances Fitzgerald just wanted to be the big hero for her own demographic. The below is a great study that I read.
‘Problematizing Prostitution in Law and Policy in the Republic of Ireland: A Case for Reframing’
Social & Legal Studies 2016, Vol. 25(3) 289–309
Shouldn’t someone point out that this seems to be the testimony of a street prostitute…
There are almost zero street prostitutes in Ireland. Almost all the sex workers are online, by phone, in apartments.
There are always a few street prostitutes and they are usually heroin addicts, but street prostitution is almost unheard of in Ireland and has been since the Internet arrived in the 90’s/2000s.
