Ignore the doomsayers – energy prices could fall next year. Forecasts suggest the energy prices will continue to spiral, but these projections could turn out to be a lot of hot air.

Taylor Swift could knock on my door tomorrow, I doubt it though.
Thick Lizzy *could* turn out to be a competent PM.
There are lots of coulds.
I *could* win the lottery. A meteor *could* fall on my head.
*Could* is doing some heavy lifting in that title.
Might go up, might go down.
It’s not doomsaying when the prices have already crossed the atmosphere/ space boundary and are currently en route to the moon
Space bats could appear tomorrow and beam energy directly down to the UK saving us all.
In reality when was the last time energy prices fell and was in turn passed onto consumers. It’s almost like when everything is privatised in a captured market where electricity is needed to do basically anything in this world that there is no motive at all to pass any decrease on. Almost as if essentials are inherently not suitable for profit motives without in turn harming the general population.
Well, everybody I know is making sure appliances are unplugged, and managing thier heating use this winter, I can see the greedy bastards not having the bumper winter they will have forecast.
‘Oh it’ll be OK because fracking…’ great. That’s the wrong answer mate.
Lots of things “could” happen next year. Personally I’m banking everything on a massive Euro lottery win. I mean, it could happen…
> So here’s my forecast for next April. The price cap will not be increased and will subsequently fall. Inflation will peak in the next few months and then fall back. Those pessimistic forecasters will look extremely foolish and you might assume that they will never be heard of again.
Amazing, the entire article is “people who know about energy are predicting increases. I, however, am a columnist and say they will not.”
Doomsayers, it’s already unaffordable ffs…… i hate these priviledged cunts who think people are *just moaning for moaning sake*.
Would be nice if everyone is a bit more optimistic I suppose but I’m feeling almost palpable fear when I think of the winter in between here and next spring.
I mean of course they will. Gas price is already tumbling.
There’s no energy shortage, just temporary sanctions.
I hope they are right. I doubt it though.
People were saying this inflation was transitonary in 2021 and look at us now.
Lots of things could happen. I could fall into a puddle of nuclear waste and mutate into a bird. The entire continent of Asia could spontaneously combust. Journalists could suddenly stop being slimy lying pieces of shit
“Those who had the foresight to lock in low prices earlier this year will be unaffected.” AHH yes. It’s our fault for not locking into increased prices that felt a bit excessive, when people more well-versed in this like Martin Lewis were saying that a fix would probably not be the best option. And it’s our fault for not predicting that prices would rocket beyond our imagination.
Yes all our fault. Stupid us.
