  1. >however, we are encouraged that since mid-year 2021, the trend in criminal/ASB incidents has begun to reduce year on year

The number of incidents in previous years is noticeably absent from the article, but it appears to be trending downwards based on the quote above.

  2. Why can’t we just have a dedicated transport policing division, it’s obviously needed, it’ll take a serious incident such as a fatality to get implemented unfortunately if ever

  3. Well the role models at the minute from the top down aren’t setting a great example. No future for the youths and no consequences for the real criminals in government. I can tell why kids would be antisocial. I’m not condoning antisocial behaviour in any way but society isn’t something very appealing to today’s youth.

  4. Vote for me as prime minister,

    Il reintroduce the death penalty.

Basically it will end the whole “100 previous convictions” headline.

You commit three crimes and its death.

In a couple of years all the scrotes will be gone. Once that’s done we remove the death penalty as we won’t have any scrotes left.

    Anyone got a better idea?

  5. If take your average scrote who soils a carriage, antisocial behaviour etc, the way forward is to fine them 10k. Place something on them that will ruin them for years, and if they don’t have it take 25% of their social welfare every week for two years. Make the trains and darts places that these assholes cannot afford to mess around in. Let them take their shit to where it’s tolerated.

  6. Id love to see more about the when. Id say this is an easy fix weekends and evenings just have security work then for gods sake.

I cant see much trouble before on the morning shift as most the scum are in bed.

The only problem is this country will struggle to pay the poor people who have to deal with these a decent wage.

  7. Apparently the people ruling the country don’t see it!

Dublin is the safest capital city in Europe – Fina Gael Senator

*Earlier this month a man in Dublin was left in a critical condition after he was allegedly attacked by a gang of teenagers.*

*The incident sparked debate about the level of anti-social behaviour in the nation’s capital with independent Councillor Mannix Flynn telling The Pat Kenny Show that society needed to do more to more on the issue of “educating our children to respect law and order”.*

*However, Fine Gael’s Barry Ward, who works as a barrister and a senator, said that while crime certainly exists in Dublin, it is far safer than comparative cities.*

*“If you look at any metric of policing or the level of safety in a large capital city like Dublin, it compares incredibly favourably to any city in Europe,” Senator Ward said.*

*“I can’t think of any capital city in Europe that is as safe as Dublin is – which is not to say that Dublin doesn’t have problems, it’s not to say there isn’t criminality, it’s not to say that people don’t from time to time feel unsafe and with justification.*

*“What we need to do is deal with that but also to put it in context of the fact that on any metric we are still safer than most places.”*

    *Statistics*

*Eurostat does note that Ireland has a lower rate of police recorded offences than other European countries. In 2020 there were 28.3 offences reported to Gardaí per 100,000 people – lower than the EU average of 40.8.*

*Methods of recording and classification of offences varies greatly across the continent but Ireland still has a higher crime rate than a number of other countries – such as Denmark, Norway and Switzerland.*

*“That doesn’t mean that crime doesn’t happen,” Senator Ward continued.*

*“It doesn’t mean that we can’t do better.*

*“It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be striving to improve it and particularly to address the kind of offences here that you’re talking about; anti-social behaviour, assaults, violent disorder – things that make people feel unsafe where they should not feel unsafe which is on our streets and in our towns.*

*“They should feel safe there, they absolutely should and that’s why it’s important that we do everything we can to ensure the Gardaí can deal with those issues, police those areas and I believe that is happening.”*

  8. Wow, 4 a day. Which means there are probably dozens per day that are unreported.

People say it’s reactionary or right wing to complain about scumbags doing stuff like this. But people travelling from the leafy suburbs on Darts or Luas aren’t being disrupted. When this shit happens it happens where working class people are commuting.

It would be easy to fix and it would have a huge, positive effect on lots and lots of people’s lives.

  9. >Another incident on 27 February involved a passenger who had brought a wheelie bin on the DART.

    Okay so 759 incidents.
