well good for social housing renters, but not so good for private renters who I expect will get rent rises and eventually some sort of tax rise somewhere to pay for it all, ‘cos it isn’t going to be free to do this.
If the government owns council flats, why would the rent be rising at all? I can see service charges for maintenance increasing, and bills, but at the bottom of the pile of leaseholds and mortgages and so on, the actual landowners don’t have increased costs.
Our landlord raised our rent by 150 quid yesterday.
