So a friend of mine lives in Taiwan, and he has 3 Dolls Café, now he wants to expand his business to EU.

And he found that Vienna is a very attractive place to run his doll business.

Just google Mitica cafe Taiwan and you guys would see them,I would also post some pics down below.

We are thinking of opening a bubble tea store and displaying some dolls in our store, but we need helpers! Since bubble Tea comes originally from Taiwan, I think it’s not so hard to make it work, but running a business in Vienna is not smt that can be taken lightly.

So If anyone here wants to jump in we are more than welcome, the money is there, we Don’t need any Money, just your expertise and time. Or does anyone know where can we get the Info that’s needed?

This is not an ad (dolls are in Taiwan so u guys can not buy them ) just need help!

  1. You will need a “Gastgewerbekonzession” and a “Betriebsstättengenehmigung”. And you should really speak german, otherwise bureaucracy will break your neck.

  2. Be aware that there are already lots of bubble tea stores in Austria and Vienna. You can type in bubble tea on Google maps in Vienna to see them.

  3. Bubble tea shops seem to be everywhere in Vienna and all I ever see are very bored employees. Might be different with the cosplay angle? I am not in that scene, so my opinion on that would be worthless anyway.

  4. Vienna (and surroundings) is the biggest center of the cosplay community in Austria. So far there is no (in)official meeting spot for cosplayers and anime fans except conventions. Focusing on the cosplayer/geek community might be the best shot. Since already mentioned by others before, Vienna has a lot of Bubble Tea stores. You can write me if you have any questions regarding cosplay in Austria or the community, I’m well connected.

  5. I hope you could make it! IMO it will be hard. We already have some bubble tea stores and there is no hype around for them. This could only work if you get a store in one of the Shopping malls. Westfield SCS or Donau Zentrum. There are a lot of people who run by and would take a look. A store in the city will not work. People from vienna are to conservative. Most of them will think this is an erotic shop…

  6. From a Management Perspektive, there are enough who are willing and able to do so. I know few who has the experience for it and are even willing to do it.
The bigger issue is the concept and Taste. Given those criteria, its even easy to find a joint investing Partner.
You mentioned that you have the money. Therefore a few number could be interesting to you. A good location would cost you 200k+, in a high frequency mall at least 300k+. The Initial rebuilding and Installation will take at least 50k. Employment cost will get you somewhere 10k/month for 2 workers(1 Management 1 worker) from the employer cost Perspektive. Rental Fee are about 15-30€/m2. The actual net salary is not that high. Consider the number a minimum investment, the actual cost could easily double. From the earnings Perspektive, one cup of bubble tea cost roughly 5,5€

  7. I know someone who co-opened a hipster café in Vienna. The thing he most complained about was that there are a ton of requirements for the building that have to be adhered to, how many toilets you need and what rooms are required for the staff etc. There’s a lot that can be done wrong there.

  10. Vienna. Doll bubble tea store. Well.. Might last 2 years and then it’s closed. Or did I miss bubble tea being a thing again in Vienna?

  11. I doubt the doll concept is going to work in the long run. It might draw in customers in the first few days or weeks, but simply having dolls in cosplay and bubble tea is not enough to keep people interested. What could maybe work is having the dolls but making the selling point the shop being a manga cafe where people can hang out and read manga.

  12. although i am not in this cosplay scene, i would be very much interested in your friends idea. would love an update on that eventually

Bubble Tea selber is halt wieder die Sache.. a dime a dozen in vienna.
