Guys do you know what the swiss rule says about driving surrons? Is it even legal and if yes are you allowed to drive freely in the woods with it?

  1. You are absolutely not allowed to drive freely in the woods. There’s a lot of protected area and private woods. On hiking paths it’s also not allowed. There is very few offroading areas unless you own the land, but there is some dirt biking tracks.

  2. If you want to ride it on the street, you need a moped number plate as long as it’s faster than 25 km/h. Above 45 km/h you need a real motorbike license plate.

  3. Can’t drive anywhere but private grounds without “verkehrszulassung” which would necessitate safety equipment like lights and protective covers for certain parts of the bike so you can get the “MFK”.

  4. “When no one realises it’s an ebike”

It falls under the category of a “fast ebike” so a full driving (at least category M) license is required, and you’ll need to get a license plate and a vignette, same as other vehicles.

Looks dope btw, and I bet it goes like shit off a shovel with those slicks. Have fun, but yeah, get all the required paperwork otherwise you’re going to get booked and f’d in the a. They throw the book at you here for driving without the required docs, so even though you can outrun them, that thing is pretty noticeable so best not to try it 🤣🤣

  5. The irony of these bikes is you’re basically not allowed to use them except on your own private property

  6. Some people are so sick of bikers tearing through the woods in places where they shouldn’t be going that they put wires or ropes between trees. Horrific and dangerous. Just bear that in mind when you plan on adding to the annoyances.

  7. Just a reminder: If you have to ask if something is legal in switzerland, you can stop right here, because it will be illegal.
