Home Secretary should reform failing police forces – think tank

  1. >The report said that the public feels police officers are “more interested in being woke than solving crimes”.

And there we are. More culture war nonsense.

The issue isn’t that the police are too woke. It’s that they have no resources. If police were funded properly and could recruit the amount of of officers they need then they would solve more crime. That should be obvious to any government. Instead we get complaints that they are too woke.

  2. Police forces are failing because policing is a shit job and they are struggling to retain staff and recruit new ones.

They are failing because *all* of the public sector is being failed by the government – police are bottom of the pile.

This article talks like taking the knee is a daily thing – it happened one time ( at various forces) in an attempt to show a not insignificant percentage of the population that they’re not ok with it either. Same for pride – it’s recognising that the institution was an *arsehole* and trying to show things have changed.

It’s just community policing – no different than visiting old nanna miggins and asking about those naughty boys making noise up the road.

  3. This think tank complaining about work policing is the same think tank that further politicised policing by recommending the introduction of police and crime commissioners.

  4. Population has gone up, number of officers has gone down. Less social protections, increased cost of living crime goes up.

You want a more civil society, pay for it.

  5. Get a Think Tank to say “reform X” when what they should be saying is “The Minister for X is incompetent”. It is all about projecting good PR. Or, propaganda as it was called before the rebrand.
