Hi, I hope I’m posting in the right sub for this! I was recently given this delicious looking sausage by a friend when they returned from Lithuania, and I am wondering how it’s normally eaten in Lithuania. Is it just enjoyed by itself? If anyone has any recipes that use it/recommendations I’d be very grateful.

Thanks in advance 🙂

  1. Bread, butter, sausage (marinated pickle/onion optional).
    Serve with tea.
Perfect for trips or just a lazy breakfast/dinner.

Perfect to bite on after vodka shots.

  2. Get a 10 pack of eggs. Boil all of them, peel and slice in half. Take the yolks out and put them in some bowl. Add diced sausage, diced onion and mayo. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix the stuff and refill the egg white halves with the stuff.

  3. cut up the sausage, cut up some cheese in small squares, get some chips that’s salt taste, put them all up on a cutting board and serve with wine.

  4. Get as drunk as possible, through away all the food in your fridge, only keep this sausage, butter and white bread (batonas).

During hangover you will like the sandwitches.

  5. Slice of white bread, thin layer of butter on top, sliced sausage layer, and maybe some sliced cucumbers or pickles. Also a cup of tea.

Basically the only setting I’ve ever eaten it is in a sandwitch, not sure it even has other recipe’s, maybe throw a few slices into scrambled eggs or something?..

  6. 1. Cut the package.
    2. Take out the sausage.
    3. Discard the package.
    4. Bite or cut the sausage.
    5. Chew and swallow.
    6. Beer, dark rye bread, fresh onion and dill pickled cucumber is optional.

  7. Vodka.
Dark bread with sliced sausage, sliced onion, Džiugas cheese sliced pickle,
Take a shot first and then eat that little sandwich

  8. White or black bread, butter, sliced sausage, optional cucumber or other stuff on it. I think its like the german butterbrot.

Sometimes I just cut a piece and eat it with a cucumber or make hot sandwiches with some of them.

  9. I’m weird, so bear with me 🙂

I don’t like the texture of fat inside the sausage. Absolutely can’t handle, but love the meat. So after I slice it – I pick the largest ones out before I eat it.

Collect the fat – render it out in a pan – boom, flavourful cooking medium.

    No waste 🙂

  10. This one is good. Slice it and eat as a snack with friends. Buy a cheaper one for butter brod (butter and bread)
