This might be the 4th time post-Brexit the EU has made moves towards us for a defence and security partnership. Seems unlikely for any progress to be made until other things, namely the NIP and Horizon are first settled.
It will be interesting to see how the new Foreign Secretary sees this…
“Michel suggested leaders wanted an informal and “very flexible” body, resembling the G7 or the G20.”
This was the right decision for the idea of rhe EPC. It could have gone 2no. ways the other resembling perks for those along the road to accession.
I actually think it would do Liz Truss well to attend if it has been labelled as above as a talking shop. Means the UK can actually have input, no strings attached. She would do well to accept the invite
Makes sense, the UK has the most capable military in Europe.
The problem is that this could also be construed as “*EU* seeks to entwine UK in new Euro army.”
If such a thing is to be done, and they want the UK involved then I would suggest that they allow the Norwegians to take the initiative and issue invitations and thus prevent the appearance of an EU summons.
Wow, how generous of them. They bring us in when they want us to spill more blood and money protecting them.
Along with the invitation, send along an agreement regarding the NIP, admittance to Horizon and an apology over the EU’s actions over vaccines. Until then the EU can’t be trusted, and the UK should be very wary of its machinations

Will they invite Vladimir Putin as well?
