  1. >The discussions reportedly involve importing more gas from Norway in the short term, while ramping up domestic production. The climate change committee has previously said it takes an average of 28 years for an exploration licence to lead to oil and gas production.

Ah yes, perfect timing. May as support all of the cash strapped energy producers until then.

  2. From the 2019 Conservative party manifesto:-

    >Reaching Net Zero by 2050 with investment in clean energy solutions and green infrastructure to reduce carbon emissions and pollution.

It’s difficult to see how the new PM would have a mandate for more oil drilling. It’s even clearer now that whoever the membership of the Tory party decides is the UK’s next Prime Minister, that person will not have a legitimate mandate and the government as a result will lack moral authority to make any controversial changes.

The irony is of course they told us we had to leave the EU as it’s “undemocratic” yet the Tories will have had three unelected Prime Ministers in a row since voting Leave.

We need an immediate General Election if we are going to avoid a constitutional crisis.

  3. Liz Truss promises to lie over and over again if elected as PM on September 5th. “The people of this country are asking for it and I can assure you, I am the one to deliver, deliver, deliver!”.

  4. She is a bundle of joy isn’t she, even villans in comic books keep more secrets regarding their plans than she does.
“You will never find the bomb which will detonate in 93 minutes because it is hidden at postcode SW 11 XFD, behind the doorway”

  5. Of course she will. It appease’s the quarter of the conservatives who don’t want to nationalise the energy companies whilst stuffing their back pockets with wads of cash whilst ripping the entire country off.

  6. Oil drilling eh? First you have to know where to drill so you need seismic surveys done. Then if you identify a promising area you need sink some test wells. If it’s viable then the rigs have to go in. The whole process takes a long time.

  7. Since we are facing a crisis, caused in at least some part, by climate change now, if we are investing in things for 20 years time can we not give the money to the same organisations and resources that got us into this mess and instead invest in insulation and clean energy?

  8. Great! Let’s build some coal power plants as well, and find another way to make quick cash while we fuck the planet. I will promise the doom of the planet but give me the power first.

  9. People complain about hug oil prices but then they also complain if someone wants to get more supply to lower prices. No winning.

  10. Lets kick the can further down the road instead of fixing the problems now.

Why? Because they can’t be fucked, that’s why.

  11. Is she hoping that she is so incompetent if she drills for oil she will unexpectedly find gas instead? We need gas not oil.

  12. The greens think humans are essentially a plague on the world and fear technology. Liberals always give ground so everything slowly shifts to the left.

  13. She could turn the UK into a renewables paradise and show the rest of the world how it is done, instead she has chosen to go the other way and only speed up the rate at which catastrophic climate change approaches. I suppose the good news is that no shareholders will be hurt in the meantime.
