Tory leadership: Liz Truss cancels BBC interview with Nick Robinson

  1. Scrutiny is the enemy. Johnson realised that. If you want to see clips of her at select committees and you will see just how weak she is. Even a Tory like Robinson would make her look hopeless

  2. Because all voting is done. She is shit in front of the camera. She is shit at public speaking. She will be roasted every Wednesday in THOC. Can’t wait.

  3. Ah great, another one that’s going to run away from any potential conflict and when they do finally get pinned down to be called out on their lies it’ll be mumsnet that gets them.

  4. Honestly as a rule any time a politician in any sort of election or leadership race cancels a debate or interview appearance they should empty chair the spot and broadcast it. We are not holding these bastards accountable and they are getting it way too easy for far too long.

  5. The one upside of this is she is going to get absolutely fucking torched on a weekly basis in PMQs.

Can almost smell the pork cooking already.

  6. “the definition of fair dismissal should be widened … to encompass inadequate performance … ” Britannia Unchained 2021, coauthored by one Liz Truss.

For once I couldn’t agree more.

  7. Dropping out of interviews and debates has never failed to win them support. The media is just a facade at this point.

  8. She is a complete shithouse, we thought we’d seen the height of shithousery from the blond fuckwit but oh no along comes Liz ‘don’t ask me any difficult questions’ for Leader. Embarrassing to say the least.

  9. Too gutless to face any kind of informed questioning.

And she claims she’s going to take on Putin! I reckon he’ll have her reduced to quivering jelly in minutes.

  10. Still afraid of the BBC despite the Tory’s turning it into a propaganda machine for them. Tells you all you need to know about her right there

  11. She realises she has nothing to say that won’t show her up as either heartless, cruel, scornful, incompetent or all of these.

  12. Liz Truss is looking more and more likely to be our next PM as the right wing media seem to be supporting her campaign more than Sunak. She is an incompetent buffoon who will drag this county further downward into a Kafkaesque global laughing stock. She is so desperate to be seen as the next Margaret Thatcher she’ll likely create a union busting ‘task force’ that’ll be dressed in a brown shirt uniform. Unfortunately Sunak is equally a cunt.

  13. Do what Have I Got News For You did for Roy Hattersly and replace her with a tub of lard. It certainly will be as intelligent as Truss but with twice the charisma. People will still be happy to vote for her though, they cannot see why having a PM unwilling to face scrutiny might be a tad worrying.

  14. For the last few weeks she’s been spouting borderline fascist nonsense for 160 k Tory members to get to be pm. But she has utterly trashed the Tory party in the eyes of the public. Sunak at least tried to both win and keep the public on side. Many Tories In the general population know that the members are really voting for the next leader of the opposition.

  15. To be honest I find it surprising as this is the smartest move she could make. She’s already won so why risk tanking yourself? Wouldn’t have expected her to put any level of thought into… well, anything!

  16. >Ms Truss’ team said she could no longer spare the time for the one-on-one programme

“Spare the time”. Already too busy and she hasn’t even got the job yet. Get used to the “new normal”. That’ll be us for the next two years. Truss reigning from her ivory tower. She’ll be occasionally popping out to assure us that the next round of tax cuts will totally turn things around and that she knows how you feel because she has seen Leeds on occasion and has kids.
