60 years ago, USS Independence (CV 62) encountered a full-rigged ship in the Mediterranean, the carrier signaled the sailing vessel to identify itself. “Training ship Amerigo Vespucci, Italian Navy.” Independence reportedly signaled back, “You are the most beautiful ship in the world.”

On Sept. 1, when USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) hailed Amerigo Vespucci she replied, “This is Italian Navy Ship Amerigo Vespucci, senior national vessel in active duty.”
George H. W. Bush replied, “Amerigo Vespucci, you are still the most beautiful ship in the world!”
when you forgot to upgrade one of your units
Wow that Italian training ship is _huge_, and I have to give props to the US for figuring out how to operate aircraft from a wooden ship without hitting the masts.
Amerigo would be proud, a ship named after him and a ship from a continent named after him together.
It is great that CVN-77 gets the protection it needs in these vile Adriatic waters.
That’s what happens when I play civilization on deity and try to enter the sea with my galley 🙁
It’s nice of Italy to escort a poor American ship
Look at that beauty!
The aircraft carrier is ok as well.
