VTM to make reality show about raising child together

  1. I thought it was a late April fools joke, but apparently the great minds at DPG are serious about this shit.
There’s just so many reasons why this is a terrible idea. The main one being that the decision to get children shouldn’t be motivated in any way by getting social media points.

  2. Apart from getting media involved, which is problematic on its own.

Does co-parenting from the start happen often?

I can’t think of an example.

I also wonder which “experts” think that might be a good idea. And I know there are many traditional families who better wouldn’t have children at all, but if comparing to those is the experts main selling point, there is something morally wrong with them.

  3. These are the forbidden experiments that psychiatrists drool over.
But its not even for science.
Dr Mengele was pure evil but at least he wrote his results down so we now know exactly how much electricity we can safely buzz through a human.
This show just does their unethical shit for the lolz of the people.

  4. This is work for the [Vlaamse Regulator voor de Media](https://www.vlaamseregulatormedia.be/nl/over-vrm/over-ons). They even have a specific ‘chambre’ that looks after the integrity of the children, [Kamer voor onpartijdigheid en bescherming van minderjarigen](https://www.vlaamseregulatormedia.be/nl/over-vrm/over-ons/kamer-voor-onpartijdigheid-en-bescherming-van-minderjarigen).

    >De kamer voor onpartijdigheid en bescherming van minderjarigen doet uitspraak over geschillen die gerezen zijn naar aanleiding van het uitzenden van programma’s die de lichamelijke, geestelijke of zedelijke ontwikkeling van minderjarigen ernstig zouden kunnen aantasten, …

Let’s hope they will in fact do their job.

  5. I’ve heard of year-long friends having a child together and raising it as co-parents, but then you already know each other very well for years. This idea is just crazy and sounds irresponsible to me.

I also don’t like how they always portray ‘coaches’ as experts. Anybody can call themselves coach about any kind of topic but that doesn’t make you an expert. I wonder if that ‘coach’ is the only expert on the show or if they found actual experienced psychologists who were supportive of this tv show.
