The court heard that Mr Burke is currently in an empty classroom at Wilson’s Hospital school despite the injunction. He was placed on admin leave after allegedly publicly confronting the principal to voice his opposition to a request to address a pupil with “they” pronoun.

  7. I have little sympathy for the school. Why on earth did they hire him?? He and his family are notorious for their views and for causing problems everywhere they go. Whoever made that decision should be held accountable.

  10. Tbh I feel sorry for the Burke children. All 10 were homeschooled and indoctrinated into their parents personal cult to the extent that they can’t really function in Irish society. This guy is a double undergrad plus masters in education and he’s just flushed it all down the toilet. Same with his sister who is likely never going to work for any legal firm ever again.

  12. He wants the attention and to get arrested. I can’t help but feel they are piggybacking on an a very controversial topic to gain publicity and because of this they will get support. They are a shrewd, slippery bunch. A single slip up by the school or a Garda etc and I can see them suing whoever they can by saying his constitutional rights/free speech/religious freedom is being infringed upon.

I go to this school and yes he is still there the police arrived at around 4 but no arrest was made RTE were down there blocking the exit to the school with their film cameras he did so much more than what the news says about him he would constantly flirt with people in his classes say horrible things and even stopped people collecting money for a LGBT charity I hope he gets locked up honestly as today mere hours ago he started talking to me at the school all he said was hello how are you, he disrupted classes by going into them and trying to teach when he shouldn’t of been teaching he was hanging around their all day but yet the gardai were just shoving camera crews out the way and not throwing him in a van

  20. Some of the quote tweets in this are very funny. People giving out about the use of the pronoun ‘they’ and how it makes no sense but then referring to the student directly as ‘they/them’ because they don’t know their gender.

    However a very sad indictment of people who refuse to read more than a headline being mislead and outraged over the wrong issue

  21. Who in their right mind would employ a Burke. They are a lawsuit waiting to happen. The kids are like elves in a lawsuit factory, devising means of creating conflict and then using their own siblings to run their cases at near zero cost to themselves. This is the second employer of a Burke to end up in court in the past couple of years.
