Saw this little guy during a hike 20 min from Basel and wondered if anyone could tell me what type of snake it is he seemed shorter than expected but also looked like it had an injury at the tail end.

All I know is that it’s non-venomous
not an actual snake: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow_worm
Not a snake! Despite appearances.
In German it’s called a Blindschleiche, in English apparently it’s called a [Slow Worm](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow_worm).
Do you have an Android phone? You can use Google lens to identify slow worms and plants you encounter. The accuracy is incredible and is still getting better.
it’s a blindsneaker not a snake
Not a snake. Blindschleiche.
Hmm, my mother was supposed to be at home, why she on this pic 😃
Not a snake, it’s a type of legless lizard.
r/biology can help you out. Remember to say the region and weather conditions of when you took the picture.
Blindsneak lol
they lose their tail which then wiggles around to distract predators, it then grows back after some time. its their natural trick for survival.
It isn’t a snake. It’s a lizard (blindworm/slowworm).
In italian it’s called Orbettino
Its a baby lizzard human. If you are not paying attention, it will slip up your asshole and take control of your body. Stay safe!
