All GAA matches in Roscommon off due to referee protest

  1. Fantastic news. I know the referee in question personally, and what happened him is absolutely deplorable.

  2. I’m sure attacks on match officials take place in other parts of the country too, so it’d be nice to see referees in other counties come out in support also.

  3. Good and hopefully the GAA come down hard on the club and manager in question, my gut feeling is they will be met with a wall of silence.

  4. Do people not remember the scenes when loads of lunatics from Louth attacked the ref in Croke park years ago? He never went to jail.. I know him well, suspended sentences all round..the power of the gaa

  5. The scumbag who did this to that poor man should be banned from every GAA club/organisation for life. This wasn’t a heat of the moment thing, he took his time walking over to assault him and took his time walking back.

  6. Just so people are aware it’s not just about this incident. It is about that continuous abuse they face that is being ignored. They are volunteers and an essential part of the game. Why this isn’t a matter for the guards I don’t know. If it happened on the street it would be . Why is it different on a football pitch

  7. Will the club suspend him first in order to get ahead of it and hope he gets off light. Same as Dublin and Farrell when they broke the covid rules.

  8. Manager in question should be locked up, but of course he won’t he’s a GAA head from Roscommon and done great for the community. Absolutely disgusting and happens in the soccer too at a minor game aswell and then people go crazy when the kids start acting up on the pitch and in life when these scums are their role models.
