Some of the simplest cons are the best.
Simply underfund the NHS to a point where both workers and patients get fed up.
Private healthcare in the UK is a scam on its own. If the private doctors fail the procedure, they send them to A&E for public doctors to clean up
NHS funding has never been higher. But this money is being spent in the wrong places. What we have is a crisis in management and managerial staff are feathering their nests at the expense of front line staff.
If the world’s fifth largest organisation cannot cope with providing the health needs of the 21st most populous country they’re doing things wrong.
There’s a great quote from the Late Tony Benn lamenting the decisons made by NHS management.
“There was a boat race between a Japanese crew and a crew from the National Health Service. Both sides practised long and hard and the Japanese team won by a mile. So the NHS …faced with this problem setup a working party which reported that the Japanese had eight people rowing and one steering and the NHS had eight people steering and one rowing.
So they brought in management consultants and the management consultants confirmed the diagnosis, suggested the NHS team be completely restructured to make it more efficient, more cohesive, streamlining andall-round better performance. A strategy document was drawn up and the recommendations encouraged restructuring for the entire organisation. As part of the restructuring, a number of appointments were made including three Assistant Steering Managers, three Deputy Steering Managers, a Director of Steering Services and the rower was given anincentive to row harder. They had another race, this time the NHS team lost by two miles, so management laid off the rower for poor performance, sold the boat and gave the Director of steering services alarge payout for making the ‘hard decisions’ and concluded they had toomany management consultants and not enough managers!”
It’s been this way since labour started with the PPI stuff.
The current shower of a government are marginally more invested in this approach, but we’ve had multiple governments of multiple colours determined to destroy the NHS for quite a while now
Just look at what they have done to dental. No dentist is taking on new nhs patients because of how their compensation is structured. They aren’t allowed to drop current patients but consistently, as people move or kids are born, more and more people are unable to access nhs dental care. Within a generation, there will be no more public dentistry for anyone, and because the change is so gradual it remains under the radar.
it worked for water, oil and electric. so they are going to do it again.
same pillaging. same corruption. same short sightedness. same malicious, deliberate incompetence. same irresponsibility.
Over the last 40 years, most of the NHS has already been subcontracted out to private suppliers working under the NHS logo. I’m honestly not sure that there is very much to sell off now.
What’s miserable is that a lot of people seem to think that if we just let the NHS die then it would stop sucking in all this money and it would be cheaper for everyone.
If the NHS were disbanded we would swap to an insurance based model. It wouldn’t necessarily look as bad as America, but I guarantee it will not be cheaper than the current system.
This has been going on for years and yet somehow the British public keeps voting for it.
I work closely with several NHS Trusts and all seem to be full of layers of managers who are stuck in a system of ridiculous bureaucracy. The vast majority are on the sale Agenda for Change pay scales that nurses and HCA assistants are on so whenever there’s a call to increase salaries of those key staff there’s no way to avoid also giving the same pay raises to all the other staff, not all of which is reflective of the work they do.
The NHS is the one good thing left this country has. If they take that away from me I’m fucking moving.
The British NHS is a beacon of medical brilliance, no way should the overtly well-heeled be allowed any opportunity to sell it off from under the noses of those who built it and require it. Shameful, treacherous behaviour.
They’ve been trying to sell it off piecemeal for decades.
This has been their blatant tactic since they got in!
Clapping for Nurses? CLAPPING? Only a fucking tory could come up with that bollocks.
It’s exactly what they did to British Rail in the 80s.
I’ve been saying they will do this for 10 years. I’ve been warning people about the Tories for years but people never listen. People in this country are so lazy and brainless most deserve all of this to teach them a lesson.
UK government? But harsh when we all know it’s a singular party that have been attempting this since the 80’s..
Why do you think Rishi sunak was in the US having talks with health insurance companies on the quiet awhile ago..
They are allowing it to slip so mich to the point where they will say the only way to keep it running is to privatise.
I suspect they already have all the plans drawn up and the contracts ready, they are just waiting for public support to go their way just enough for them to get away with doing so. With people getting more and more desperate for help each week, the Tories just have to hold out a bit longer before they have enough of the public on their side to start contracting out services to their mates.
I have been reading that the NHS is being sold off since the late 80s. It never quite happens.
The NHS has the highest levels of finding per capita it ever has – https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/projects/nhs-in-a-nutshell/nhs-budget
The article is a list of complaints about working conditions, fine, but there’s no evidence of a sell off – it’s literally misinformation to make that claim unless someone can point to credible evidence of non-trivial amounts of the NHS being sold off.
I knew someone who had a swollen joint, they went private, had scans, doc comes back ‘tumor, you are going STRAIGHT to the NHS, they are just better equipped for this’
And that was that
Private healthcare in the UK is for non life threatening stuff, physio, etc. Anything serious and they go straight to the NHS
Absolutely believe this to be true.
I know and I can’t do a fucking thing about it.
Ducking Tory cunts.
Again common knowledge for years
The NHS is crown jewel of the UKs public services and if we let the gov sell it off then a ton of people will be in for a shit time.
So no news there, then.
What I’m not seeing is the change, protests and correct voting to prevent this.
David Cameron sent his own child to the NHS because his usual private service wouldn’t treat the genetic illness in question. Hypocracy 101.
Nye Bevan, one of the people who was prominent in creating the NHS, stated that he would never forget the misery inflicted on him by the Conservatives, and he urged people not to forget either, that the tories repeatedly voted against the implementation of the health service, up until the final hour.
He called them vermin, and much pearl-clutching was done at such a terrible affront, but he was right. They are fucking rats. Comfortable in their own lives as we should all be, but motivated enough by hate to steadily and deliberately ruin the lives of those beneath them, seeing themselves as the arbiters of who deserves punishment, and who doesn’t. (Everyone deserves punishment, except them).
Every time they come to power the NHS ends up on its knees, as sure as day follows night, and that’s something even their voters have to admit.
If healthcare goes private I will most likely just die, I do not want to live in a world like america, i didnt choose to be born with multiple illnesses that cause me pain and I certainly wont have a choice wether it bankrupts me or not
Been saying this for years. Break it until its unfixable then sell it off.
What do you expect from the party which so many times against its inception?
Never trust a tory!!
I hate tories, self serving greedy corrupt bastard’s who have ruined this country over the last 12 years
