I feel that more ought to be said on how China’s actions in Hong Kong, along with more and more revelations about their treatment of Uyghur Muslims, really poisoned relations between our two countries.
Obviously, America has a major influence, but I the primary drivers here are China’s own immoral actions and the personal response of whomever happend to be PM at the time.
Love to have our foreign policy and choice of economic partners dictated to by the USA. Can’t you just smell the sovereignty? We get to be their Cold War nuclear meat shield for a second time!
Because the Tories are desperate for absolutely any distraction and ‘big baddy’ they can find in the hopes that people won’t realise they’ve been fucking inept in every sense for the past 12 years now that they can’t just blame the EU for a lot of things
china is just the new baddie to blame for the fuck ups the establishment make.
before that it was immigrants, the muslims (lets be real no one really gives a fuck about the uyghurs if Austria was doing the same, people here would justify it as the Uyghurs would be called a “threat to western civilization” ), the asylum seekers, eastern Europeans, anyone black, the Irish, south asians blah blah.
same hate different target.
Won’t this create problems for Britain’s financial sector? Won’t HSBC be caught in the middle?
