This [FT](https://www.ft.com/content/1e20467a-5b53-42b7-ad89-49808f7e1780) article notes Europe is now going to be spot buying Gas from China. Are we now buying Gas from China, who are buying cheap gas from Russia? The article doesn’t clarify but my understanding is “yes partially we are or will be”. And how can we reject Russian oil “out of principal” but now but Gas with ease from China with their current ongoing abuses against the Uighurs? And again, none of this actually matters anyway if we are indirectly buying Russian gas anyway.

I’d just like any input on what is really going on.

None of this makes sense anymore.

  1. Ireland get gas from two sources : domestic and the UK.

The UK get gas from LNG imports, domestics, Norway and the EU. They no longer import Russian gas.

So Ireland, specifically, is not using any Russian gas.

Secondly, Russia has a total of 180bcm (billion cubic metres) of pipeline gas export capacity to Europe, and 25bcm to China. While it’s not impossible that a small fraction of Russian gas could find its way to Europe, the vast majority of it is simply turned off.

  2. America killed several million people in Iraq and Afghanistan and runs a literal torture camp in Guantanamo Bay. Don’t recall anybody sanctioning them.
