  1. Two emotive headlines.

One is a recommendation from an advisory group and would be for all workers. The use of “younger’ is just divisive.

The TD salary is linked to tge wider public service pay deal

  2. The headlines are the least reliable part of any article. If that’s all you’re reacting to then you’re wasting your own outrage

  3. TDs salary are linked to the civil service.

So they are only getting a pay rise because the civil and public service are.

  4. This is not older people’s fault, the government used the pension pot to bail out the banks. This is not the public sectors fault for wanting a rise either. It’s our governments fault for not protecting pension rights and properly planning and if they had any connection to their constituents they’d donate that money or something along those lines. Don’t let them pit the working/middle class against itself

  5. If the government get to decide public sector wages then the civil service should get to decide the government’s wage. 😅

  6. I think what’s far more serious was the talk about the age based PRSI exemption going. What’s interesting is that anybody in the civil service would not be paying this on their pension(i.e. TD’s on their massive pensions) but anybody who actually saves for retirement with a private pension would be paying the 4% or whatever these fuckers raise it up to…

  7. The first article is a lie though, pushing the fake ‘public pensions crisis’ – the economy and thus Government Revenue is growing way faster than the ratio of Retired vs Employed people.

It’s divide-and-rule bullshit. It’s not stating that there will be a crisis, it’s stating that _there is an intent to gut the public pension_ – manufacturing a crisis as an excuse.

  8. why doesn’t the whole country (ie. “the people”) shut down over that and protest is beyond me
