Hello Sweden

Apologies for being an English speaker on this sub, please redirect me if appropriate. I love music yet do not speak your language.

There’s a record i really like musically, but idk anything lyrically. The band name is quite problematic in English, but idk if it’s literal or ironic. Google tells me the title is about trees and nature, but can you please help me understand the true context?

    Brief summary of some of the songs:

    Gubbar – old men can’t shape how they think.

    Funktioner – we have eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, mouths for speaking, brains for thinking. Hearts for taking responsibility and showing solidarity. But some people have weapons instead (LMAO this one is actually pretty lame).

    Kontrollerad – basically people are puppets

    I read through and it’s pretty mild. Typical swedish left wing mid/late 80s.

  2. I interpet the lyrics as mostly anti war, anti capitalism, environment issues, class etc. RP was a HC Punk band from the town of Linköping. They were probably anarchist lefties. They were quite popular in the swedish punk underground scene in the later half of the 80ies. They disbanded in the early 90ies. They later reunited with similar music as Pusrad in the early 2010s. Might be worth a listen for you.
