Donnelly lobbied for tax breaks for ‘accidental landlords’ for four years

  1. So now we have a second cabinet minister lobbying for tax changes that directly benefit themselves. Not to mention ignoring the regualtions around registering rental property.

This reminds me of before the 2008 crash were it was increasingly clear FF had completly lost touch and become complacent and arogant.

This crowd have been in power way too long. Many people are suffering and this winter is going to be horrible for many. All the while these people are only concerned with feathering there own nests.

  2. Accidental landlords? Sure who hasn’t forgotten about that property that went down the couch

  3. Well the three party leaders have expressed “full confidence” in him…so he’ll probably be gone by the end of next week.

  4. Ah lads c’mon. It’s really hard when you accidentally become a landlord. Happens me all the time.

Glad someone is lobbying on behalf of us. Nobody know the struggles!

  5. “Accidental landlords” – so people don’t have a choice. Ah, I woke up today and I somehow became a landlord, accidentally, of course.

  6. I blame the people who voted for him.

We can say politicians this politicians that, at the end of the day they only get the job because enough people want them to.

  7. Its mad, with over 50 comments here.

But yet the post itself only has 2 upvotes and still geting downvoted.

Clear as day this sub is targeted by downvote bots, any post that doesn’t meet the current status quo gets heavily downvoted

Ffg supporters are a strange strange bunch of people, rotten to the core the lot of ye’s

  8. I think what actually struck me the most was his analogy about being a health care user and that he’s lobbied for that. The difference is we’re all health care users, it’s a human right to live a healthy life. This isn’t isn’t same as lobbying for tax breaks on an investment. Even if its an accidental investment. Nor are the general public predominantly landlords. There is no human right to sustained investment returns. Its a disingenuous analogy.

Stephen, if you’re reading this, or one of your team is, I hope you take a long look in the mirror and consider what you want your legacy to be. If you want it to be anything other than a dismal failure you better up your game. That if your constituents deem you fit to continue in the future.

  9. Every time I see stories about this lad, I recall Vincent Brown grilling him and calling him a careerist when he jumped from Social democrats to where he is now. He or course denied it without any reasoning. It was like a murderer saying “no, it wasn’t me” while holding the bloody knife next to the body.

  10. I was an “accidental landlord” bought a house at 23 (i know) with a deposit I secured from a credit union loan. Was told by all and sundry to get my foot on the property ladder. House is just after reaching the price I paid for it it 2003.
I have lovely tenants in it that pay a below market rent and I would never dream of kicking them out or selling until they leave. I emigrated for a decade and have rented myself since I returned to
Ireland 4 yrs ago. I am an accidental landlord and appreciate that Donnelly and others understood this

  11. What I find funny is how there always seems to be outrage from some corners at all these revelations as if we ought to be surprised that these types of things are going on at all. It’s fairly clear how we the ordinary people are being made fools of by people like that twat SD Most of what they campaign for has a personal agenda attached somewhere along the line….they do not care for us, it’s their own interests which they serve and surely that is becoming more apparent to the masses the longer SD and his like are in power?
