Why is your air quality so bad right now?

  1. No wind, a lot of wood fire ovens and a landscape that closes in the air. Oslo for example is located between hills on the one side and the Fjord on the other side. In winter that creates a micro climate that prevents air movement. Combine that with no wind and the micro dust created by wood fires in almost every house and there you go.

  2. Prices for electricity are higher in Europe. So we are exporting the electricity to make the most money and burning wood here at home. The power companies are having the best time ever.

  3. High prices for electricity, it’s cold and windless, many people are heating their homes with firewood.

In Norway you also get inversions in the air in wintertime. Usually the air temperature decreases with increasing height. With an inversion you get increased air temperature with increasing height near the ground, before it starts decreasing as normal.
This works as a lid over an area and all the pollution is accumulated under the “lid”.

  4. It’s because, if you can’t do anything here, you become a politician. No education needed not intelligence.
So with only money as their one and only agenda.. they set up the price for energy so insanely high, so they make all time high everywhere..
And the poor single person with two kids can’t use electricity…

So short answer.. wood.. we burn insane amount of wood.

  5. The electricity prices has increased around 400-500 % (Sadly I don’t remember the exact number, but I watched a debate about it on NRK yesterday (the Norwegian equivalent to BBC) ) compared to last year. It’s also very cold these days, so many people are using their fireplaces now.
