  1. “Ryan Tubridy’s 9-10am slot shed 22,000 listeners and is now at 359,000.”

Surely that’s 359k people leaving the radio on for the dog while they’re at work

  2. Tubs is an old fashioned Irish radio personality for the modern age, 395,000 listeners, odds are more people in Ireland are listening to JRE or some other popular podcast

  3. A sickening pain in the balls..tubs and Joe Duffy as well.. christ radio 1 coukd really do with being cleared out of these depressing old shites.. they would probably only fill it up with that other biased pain in the hole Claire Byrne.

  4. Dont the JNLR figures take a small number of people and add a few zeroes on the end? Like this could randomly be 22 people who stopped listening.

  5. RTE talk about covid or some other misery 90% of the time on their talkshows. Not surprised people are tuning out.

We are all fatigued with this.

  6. Back home for the first time in years and the D’Arcy show began, the ma ran across over to the radio to turn it off “I can’t stand that fucker, argghhh!”

Here was me stuck in my warped 2002 mind that Ray D’Arcy was one of the cool radio hosts! Turned into to an absolute dope by all accounts

  7. I don’t know how anyone can listen to radio in this country, all the talk shows seem to have been designed to bring the most insufferable personalities the island has to offer together and any station focus on music is just packed to the brim with ads or shite “banter” between the hosts.

  8. Radio is now going the same way as TV. Younger audiences want to listen on demand.
Podcasts are where its at people.
And barely any advertising or COVID malarky.

  9. I like to listen to Tubridy in the mornings (I know…), and then the 10 a.m. news. I leave the radio on after the news to play a little game with myself and the Today With Claire Byrne show.

I let the radio run on until the first time she starts going on about Covid, and then turn it off (and once the radio is off, it’s music for the rest of the day, I don’t go back to the radio).

There has been about eight times in 2021 where she’s made it as far as five past ten.

People simply don’t want to listen to her doom and gloom, every single day.

  10. Had anyone every been surveyed by JNLR or how do they come up with these figures? Also who d funk are the and what’s their cut?

  11. maybe they could strike up a deal with hospices and morgues, bring the ratings numbers up a bit, nobody would be the wiser its on page one of how to win an election with dead voters
