As much as I detest BoJo, he is partly correct. The war in Ukraine is the last thing we needed post covid
Let’s be real, it’s partly Russia, partly Covid and partly Brexit. But it’s mostly because of incapable leadership & elite corruption which has driven the world to it’s knees. Bad people have all the worlds money, and instead of investing it in our future, they’re blasting themselves into space & waging wars in poverty stricken nations.
One can assign part of the blame but to try and say it’s the majority cause when countries that relies on russia gas far far more than we did are somehow doing better well it sorta says hey the complete screwed situation is specific to UK and perhaps just perhaps having self entitled lazy grifters running our country is actively hurting us more than just countries with regular old politicians skimming from the top
The Ukraine war was the spark, but if our economies had been sensibly run they wouldn’t be so sensitive to a supply shock like this. We’ve known for a long time that Putin’s Russia was an aggressive gangster state. But still we failed to build any resilience into our energy systems in case we needed to decouple from Russian gas.
This is a failure of policy and economics. We shouldn’t have allowed our economies to become so vulnerable.
Nothing to do with the deficit spending and the off the scale money printing ay Boris.
It’s definitely a major part, covid shut down as well.

In energy terms Boris is right but then why has the UK suffered far worse than other countries?
Arguing over Brexit covered a reckless neglect of a raft of urgent problems, and a whole shit load of Gov’t incompetence..
The man is a lying devious criminal who belongs in prison not in Downing Street. He is a national security threat in every sense of the word.
Putin is to blame, his invasion is out of order, but the sanctions are also to blame. Yeah i know, you don’t want to hear it or be reminded about it, just like the media who ignore this yellow and blue Elephant in the room, but it’s pretty obvious.
The EU’s sanctions have f***ed everyone’s economies, made resources scarce, and almost none of these leaders thought to protect their people by finding other sources of energy, up until the point the unreliable Russian bear they were riding, decided to take a swipe at them.
They knew this was going to happen because countries like the US and UK have been training Ukrainian troops for a conflict with Russia since at least 2014, and they did NOTHING to shield us from this likely and probable event of war. They just carried on buying that cheap oil and gas. Germany especially.
Pity i don’t like the country in question or i’d think it was worth it, but i dont feel like going hungry for the Azov fascists, or people who figure a nazi-collaborator and murderer deserves public statues, public holidays and stamps made in their honour, bully for you if you do.
I’d have prefered to tighten my belt for the starving people of Yemen, a far better cause, but no-one in power gave a shit about them. I wonder why that could be. (Not really, i know exactly why, and so do you).
Yea, definitely nothing to do with 12 years of utterly insane policy choices and governance, whist you and your mates enrich yourselves and sell off parts of the country under us. You’ve had 12 years in power…first thing you did was ideological austerity instead of massively investing in nuclear and renewable power (and public services but they aren’t as relevant here). This Ukraine shit show started long before the war kicked off, perhaps not sucking dick for dirty Russian money and allowing them to use London as a laundering site and allowing Putler to do whatever the fuck he wanted in the first place would have been a good idea. The response that happened to the invasion is what should have happened years ago when he annexed land.
We’ve had over a decade of wage stagnation and growing wealth divide so that when a crisis does hit, people are much more affected. Imagine all the new skilled jobs you could have created with a massive investment into the energy sector, public services, technology, etc
Get back in your fridge and shut up.
I think the cost of housing as well
They’ve always got something to blame. It’s never Thier fault for selling everything off
