Hello, I’m going to apply for a work visa (not Blue Card) because I got a job offer in Berlin. While I was filling the National Visa D form, there was a question about where I will be staying in Germany.
My question is, since I’m not sure whether I’ll get my visa or not, do I have to provide proof of accommodation or can I just write Berlin as the place that I’ll be staying in? I know there is a housing crisis in Berlin and booking at a hotel on [booking.com](https://booking.com) won’t help because they won’t give me the *Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung* to apply for the Anmeldung which is necessary for the residence permit once I’m in Germany. So I was thinking of looking for an apartment to stay in after getting my work visa.
Note: I really have a weird timing because the HR put my starting date as October 1st and my appointment at the Embassy is September 15th, so paying for something before my appointment won’t work because I won’t have time to cancel it if my visa was rejected/took a longer time than October 1st.
Any help would be appreciated!

Ask your workplace if they can help you in this. They can sometimes provide you with a temporary accommodation and a letter which says that they will provide for your accommodation for first three months. That should be enough for the embassy.
