UK data regulator has pledged to crack down on porn sites. The Information Commissioner’s Office will engage with the sites to ensure that they comply with the Children’s Code, which requires them to prevent children accessing their sites. Could you see this happening in Ireland?

  1. “prevent children from accessing them” is simply code for “end anonymity on the internet”, which is in turn code for “… So that we can identify anyone who disagrees with us”.

It also ignores the fact that anyone who wants to access something will simply use a VPN.

  2. It likely wont even happen in the UK. Theyve never come close to a workable solution which doesn’t get mocked. One suggestion was you’d have to phone your isp and ask for access to porn. “hello, yes I’d like to wank, could you turn my porn on please? Cheers”
