Oh fuck, run for it, the outrage brigade are on their way.
Headline going to generate rage even thought whenever there’s a public sector pay rise TDS always get one.
It’s literally the framework – they can’t give the rest of the public sector a pay rise and just exclude TDS.
I really feel that their salary should directly correspond to minimum wage and if they get a raise, minimum wage must go up.
It would be interesting to see if a public vote was required to allow them to get a raise too.
That’s probably why neither of these exist.
Edit: why the down votes?
Yeah, it’s pegged to the P.O. salary (which is a position of far, far less responsibility than a TD)
So, the public sector pay deal negotiated with unions a few days ago that everyone knows about. Some “reveal”.
Worth sorting a budget for a few posters and a good social media campaign. Nearly time for the tiktokers to start voting. Sort a few meme templates. Be grand.
“Minister of state receives €141,657 – meaning Dara Calleary has just seen a €40,000 pay bump by being added to the junior ranks to replace Robert Troy”
this just sent absolute shivers down my spine.
Fuck this. So energy costs don’t matter for the TDs.
You know what’s mental?. I do public sector work as a service provider and each tender drives my income *down* while public sector employee wages and pay goes “up*.
Surely those salaries should be linked to minimum wage?
Still wouldn’t do it for that
Fucking dirtbag crooks, robbing the people blind! Greedy money grabbin cunts…and we keep voting them in like gobshites
I’m so poor that a 108000€ salary sounds obscene to me.
Performance Related Pay.
The KPI is ‘Getting away with Murder’
If anything they should get a €6,500 cut and the additional funds should go towards to solving the housing crisis or homelessness.
Unreal maths there working out 6.5% on 100K
It’s a good thing that we pay our politicians well. There was a time where we didn’t and whole bunch of them took bribes.
So young workers need to pay an extra €2,500 in taxes to allow older people to be able to retire at 66 years of age, but TDs get a raise of €6,500 for letting our economy squaller? Interesting.

Give them a break! They just realized that they, too are supposed to register their properties with RTB and pay taxes on them. How are they gonna make up for such loss? /s
So as we plod into possibly the greatest recession ever, in the midst of a housing crisis & energy crisis, TDs are getting caught left and right for not declaring assets and breaking dail protocol, and now these fuckers are clapping themselves on the back for a job well done?
Are they trying to encourage the public to riot? Wtf like
I’m a public servant I earn less than 450 euros a week , this shit boils my piss,
Where’s that fucking guillotine?
The only unskilled job that gets adjusted for inflation
They get paid. We get taxed
Meanwhile healthcare workers still having issues just getting paid on time, since the HSE seems to forget to pay us randomly.
So once again, no windfall profits taxes to push energy costs down which would allow the working class from sufficient heat this winter, but YEAH SURE GIVE YERSELVES ANOTHER PAYRISE.
This is so tone deaf given the cost of living crisis, at this point it’s not even a cost of living crisis, it’s a cost of existing because I think it’s fair to say this is no way to live
