Exc: Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly admits he failed to register rental property in Dublin on time with the RTB, and only did so late last week after Robert Troy revelations. Spokesman blamed “oversight” on failure to register since 2019

  1. Member when Stephen Donnelly was the great white hope of Irish politics, then he sold his soul for a ticket on the gravy train

  2. “on time” – bollox, that’s how he described it. Bad form for a journalist to peddle that language.

On time is matter of missed deadlines – this is 3 years late.

He didn’t do it late, he didn’t do to it all until he thought he’d be caught.

  3. I’d have paid good money to have seen Micheál Martins face when he found out haha. Joking aside it’s clear now that there’s a two tier Ireland, with the well-offs hoovering up properties since the financial crisis and making an absolute forture on both rents and flipping the properties too, something needs to change fast because it’s beyond stupid now.

  4. Oversight, I’m sure he didn’t forget to collect the rent. Drives me mad and further fuels the hatred towards landlords.

  5. “Sigh”, is there any politician out there that isn’t an absolute shyster?

It seems like they’re all making an absolute mockery of decency and ethics and take everyone for rubes.

And they’re kind of right to be fair because we’re so thick we’ll probably still end up voting them in again.

  6. Fuck sake it is literally the bare minimum requirement of landlords. If senior members of our government won’t do it why the fuck would anyone else?

  7. How many others here, if they had little “oversights” in work would be disciplined, or had little “oversights” on their daily life would be fined?

  8. How long can this bs go on for the man that replaced Troy is the one that got his minister role taken because of golf gate but ofc a year or two passed and it’s fine

  9. If the leaders of this country can be seen to be basically laughing at the rules around registering a tenancy then what hope do we have that landlords across the country are going to take those rules seriously. These politicians in breach need to be severely reprimanded to save any modicum of faith in the system.

  10. Dya know something genuniely who gives a bollix? The other fella got a demotion to TD and is still a TD so still in office/power, we have now rehired another cowboy into the now vacant old postion. So am I correct now in saying, we have to pay that other clown his pension etc.. for the Minister postion, now this new clown that took his place gets another pension out of us.

Yet fuck all is really done lets be honest. Leave him off, if its going to cost me money then let them do what they want, unless these clowns start getting pensions stripped and thrown out on there arses, what is the actual point?

  11. Maybe things have changed in the past couple of years (I used to be a single house landlord – bailed out as soon as I could), but one of the prerequisites for your tax return on a rental property as a landlord was to be registered with the prtb. If these guys aren’t registering, are they declaring the income to revenue ?

  12. RTB register is probably just a blank page. I’ve been renting well over a decade in this country, probably almost a dozen gaffs in that time. Only 1 was registered with RTB and I checked every one.
It must be a literal joke among landlords.

  13. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m absolutely loving this implosion of news coming out from investigative journalists that are finding out the true colours of our public representatives.

  14. You know that whole thing about how David Cameron having to fuck that pig head was a boy’s club thing so that everyone has dirt on everyone else and therefore they’re all free to be flippant about laws and regulations and protocol and everything else? That’s how this works too, for anyone involved in “business” in this country. You get to get away with lots because of all the other cunts getting away with the same and more

  15. A person who does not comply with their responsibility to register their tenancy/ tenancies faces a criminal conviction and a fine of up to €4000 and/ or 6 months imprisonment, if convicted.

  16. These shower of bastards are scurrying like rats since Troy resigned. They should all be held accountable with either resignation, sacking or heavy fines. We should not be tolerating this with ministers who can influence housing and property bills and legalisation in government.

  17. Hey I made an oversight on my income tax…. don’t think that would go down that well with the tax man ( the bastard)

  18. It is legit so disheartening to see this. They couldn’t care, bleed the country dry and that’s it. Genuinely a protest needs to be had, people will be up on the street for any popular global issue, but Ireland? Nah. People slave away getting taxed exorbitantly relative to available services, taxes which pay this man’s salary, who either abuse the system to get HAP or to register their property (and likely not declare income) which we pay for.

It’s such a fucking sham. Need some young influencers or whatever to get in uproar but they won’t because they’re separated from all this
