Call an immediate general election to end the chaos of the current government – Petitions

  1. Tories won’t do that because the Tories and their friends stand to make billions from this cost of living crisis. The lot of them are disaster capitalists.

  2. And if Truss as Con leader wins the GE?

As important as GEs are, the UK electorate has been shown to consistently duck things up

  3. People of this country should be taking to the streets from the 6th September and stay there until this government has been removed. Block every refinery every motorway and every railway line. Force these criminals out of office.

  4. Why would the government call a general election they’ll lose?

The more people who sign that petition the less likely they are to do it

  5. I’m not sure i’ve ever seen one of these achieve anything, even if it gets enough signatures to be discussed it is briefly mentioned & dismissed within a few sentences, complete waste of time.

  6. This 100%. Never understood how a party gets to choose who leads again after the last one was thrown out in disgrace.

  7. As a few people are saying, they’re not going to action this. They don’t want a general election and they’re not interested in the will of the public.

    I’ve signed it though.

What it will do is provide further evidence for other parties to pressure the government by showing that parliament and the public have no faith in the government. Likely they’ll ignore that too but it then makes it easier to bring action against them because there is no way for them to claim ignorance.

  8. I recall the tories being up in arms over Gordon Brown being PM without a mandate from the people. Why does this not apply now?

  9. Why on earth would the government call a General Election when they are doing shit in the polls?

They’d almost certainly lose a huge majority.

No petition is going to change that.

Wait until 2024 and you’ll have the chance to elect a new government.

  10. This would bail the torries out and they would blame Labour for the doom that is coming.

  11. But they won’t and they’ll state precedent Major did 1 year, Brown saw the term through, May waited a year and it did her no good.

The issue, they either lose, so they won’t do it, or they win because so many people are apathetic elections if another is called.

Plus regardless, young people can’t be arsed to vote in large numbers, which is why all parties appeal to the elderly.

  12. Yes, this petition will definitely be heard

Sorry gang but this illusion of democracy has to stop and online campaigns simply let those dimless wonks get away with bloody murder just because they and they don’t care about the current format in which we protest.

Violent protests is inevitable at this point

  13. Honestly, with the everything that’s happening at the moment, they’ve deemed it reasonable for the tax payer to pay for Boris to go on holidays while we all sit here and suffer. Fuck the lot of them, it’s not funny anymore, Tories are killing people

  14. An immediate election will still result in a Tory victory because the opposition is not viable.
They would likely lose a lot of their red wall ‘get Brexit done’ seats but still have a majority.

Labour are a shambles. The Lib Dems at least stand for something but a split vote still result in a Tory government.

  15. I doubt results would be any different right now. MaYbe after the Tories have their winter cull, but there again Boris inaction directly killed 50k and his popularity went up. So who knows

  16. What difference would it make? Another round of anti-Labour scare stories in the tabloids and we’ll be back to square one. Waste of time if you ask me. You want real change in this country? Call a nationwide general strike, bring the ruling class to their knees and then tell them how its going to be from now on with a **completely** reformed country.

  17. Seriously what’s stoping us all getting in our cars. Driving to the middle of the manor roads and blocking all ports, motorways, bridges fucking everything

  18. Signed it for all the good it will do. The fascist bloodsucking cunts will rule for 2 more years, guaranteed.

  19. Petitions do fuck all. The last few petitions I’ve signed have gathered enough signatures to be discussed in parliament. And the answer is always the same… Yeah, but no, we aren’t going to change a thing about how things are run.

    The illusion of democracy.

The ruling class needs to be deposed and a new system of actually representative democracy, free of corruption and bribery, needs to be put in place.

As long as the rich control the status quo via their “lobbying and donations” (read legalised bribery), there will never be real democracy. Only the corporatocracy.
