Garda wins appeal against dismissal for alleged cocaine use

  1. Where is Frances Fitzgerald to give the Gardaí discretion over who can be named and shamed for cocaine use to enable them to hide this?

  2. I know there is more to this story and these Gardai. But he wasn’t charged with anything. Being suspected of taking a drug isn’t a crime. Its seems like a really weak reason for suspension?

Maybe they did it because they just needed the suspension due to other things going on, but they must have expected this to be successfully appealed.

  3. Grainy video footage isn’t exactly the best evidence to use that someone snorted some cocaine so it doesn’t strike me as particularly surprising that he won the appeal.

Not great to be suspended for about three years though. That can’t do your career any favours.

  4. I went to school with two lads that are now gards.. they both loved being on the bag.

Also many of them in the town had close friendships with local drunk dealers.

  5. They wouldn’t have tested him for suspicion?

Every job interview I had prior to getting hired involved a full medical with drug screening. For a warehouse op job.

Guards under suspicion of drug use can’t be tested?

  6. Gardai are not even drug tested. They’ll do you for a tiny amount of drugs yet they themselves are wacking endless bags of Coke up their noses at the weekend. Hypocritical corrupt scumbags.

  7. A Garda like everyone else shouldn’t lose there job over a bump of coke. Similarly no one should lose their license for failing a drug test.

  8. Who flagged this up on the Video? Was he under investigation? There is something very off about this story.

  9. Same Garda harassed a friend of mine for years after he caught him with €5 worth of hash ,a real muppet of a garda
