Woman, 91, forced to wait 42 hours for ambulance after suspected head injury

  1. Think it’s more likely people will start paying for taxi’s, then there will be the ability to book and ambulance, then a fast track medical, next thing is NHS is defunded and we’re on the American system.

  2. Obviously it’s shocking that the ambulance takes that long to arrive, but seriously? Can’t imagine leaving my injured mum at home for almost two days instead of just bringing her myself in a taxi.

  3. My missus was screaming in agony a few months ago from a kidney stone, I couldn’t take her in as we have our baby at home. She pleaded for an ambulance for 2 or 3 hours, I knew one wouldn’t come. I called a taxi for her and the fucker was outside before we even got downstairs.

So she got to A&E, proceeded to wait there all night with tests, no scan booked at the time and only given Cocodamol to help, despite the fact she’d come in with a box of it that night (from an old surgery).

They did get everything sorted though in the coming weeks, turns out one doctor who was supposed to manage her case just fucked off and someone else stepped in to fix it all.

  4. You think that’s bad, I once had to wait over 5 hours in my local GP’s practise just to have the stitches removed from a wound on my knee!

They subsequently had to treat me for a bad case of numbed arse, after sitting on it for that long…
