Taoiseach backs Health Minister Stephen Donnelly after it emerged he failed to register tenancy for three years

  1. Everyone and their dog knows that tenancies have to be registered. These oversights are not explainable, forgetting to register is wilful ignorance at best.

  2. So weve members of gov ignoring regulations to do with housing in the worst housing crisis in the history of the state.

That should tell you how serious they are about fixing housing.

RTB is not fit for purpose. Its underfunded and lacks any powers. Not even linked in with revenue.

This gov and its politicians have shown us time and time again that they only care about the free market and profit.

    Please add to the list.

  4. Micheál Martin has backed every disgraced FF minister from Haughey and Ahern all the way through to Troy and Donnelly.

Corruption – and corruption being tolerated – isn’t a bug in Fianna Fáil. It’s a feature.

  5. This is bullshit. People in government shouldn’t be allowed make money off of things they have a say in when it comes to policies put in place. They earn enough money as it is and have enough perks that they don’t need to and there should be penalties for shit like this where they hide their assets.

It’s so fucked. The government aren’t serving the people, they’re serving themselves in every way possible. It’s infuriating.

  6. So much bad publicity for FF combined with them losing the taoiseach role soon is the only silver lining

  7. Stupid question as I’m not into politics, but can the EU not intervene seeing as the government is corrupt? What actually can be done?

I meet himself once, wanted a hand shake, hahahaha, fuck off.

    Could have been worse.

  9. Fuckin crooks, countries housing situation keeps getting worse and these snakes cunts keep waking each other off

  10. At what stage do we start rioting? I’m pretty sure other countries would have resorted to violence by now.

  11. But in the recent Guirke thread, which didn’t quite mirror this one in terms of the lunatics posting, all the Shinnerbots on here assured me it was fine if you registered with SIPO?

  12. [Re Stephen Donnelly (and I’m no fan), up to very recently RTB registration needed to be renewed every 4 years unless tenant changed. He ladt registered in 2019. The RTB subsequently changed the rules to be every 1 year, so SD would have had to do that, but would owe no reg…](https://twitter.com/CromCoops/status/1565260448156602374)

[The RTB rules changed in April 2022, from having to register every 4 years to every 1 year](https://www.rtb.ie/news/landlords-take-notetenancies-must-now-be-registered-annually-with-the-rtb#:~:text=New%20legislation%20commencing%20today%20requires,regulation%20of%20the%20rental%20sector).

So Donnelly should have registered this back in April of this year, that’s all. The level of misinformation and outrage bait here is pretty disgusting, and the vast majority of posters on here are plenty thick enough for fall for it.

The tenant has apparently been in a long-term, secure rental. The property has always been registered with SIPO. Given the scale of events going on at the moment, with everything happening in the world, energy prices, inflation, housing, yada yada this is an absolute ***nothing*** story. I despair at the level of energy being devoted to it.
