  1. I took this picture today after visiting 3 stores and finding no milk. There’s been a shortage the since end of August and apparently it will stay this way for a long time. Stuff on the right shelves are plant milks.

edit: **the refrigeraitors with fresh milk were also empty**

edit2: sorry guys, I can’t reply, my account is not old enough :/

  2. – Citizen x sees these picture in the media–panics.

    – Other citizens see Citizen X panicking and they follow his same reaction.

    – Then Putin Supporter Y sees these people panicking and says “It is our government and Europe’s fault, we must protest to lift sanctions”.

    – Paranoid panicking unhappy people get hooked by Putin Supporter Y and start protesting and doing what Putin wants.

This is what MUST NOT happen.

  3. There is an artificial shortage of milk in Serbia. The producers are waiting for the government to unfreeze the price of milk, so they could sell it much pricier. The same thing happened with sugar earlier this year.

  4. Preserving milk via heat requires compious amounts of gas (In general, dairy products is very gas intensive).

Another comment has mentioned that there is a price freeze, so I can imagine that they currently either toss it or sell it elsewhere.

If the shortage mainly concerns ultra highly heated milk (the one that stays good for months), this even more evident.

  5. And that could really one fault of the sancions, because a lot Milk cows are the so called “Holsteiner”. They comes from germany.

  6. Happens occasionally everywhere. Market manipulation usually by a producers or distributors action. We routinely have butter and sugar “shortages” in Poland. Sometimes a sign saying “max 2kg per customer” is enough to create panic.

  7. As someone with a light form of lactose intolerance, almond milk isn’t that bad too. Especially for cooking, I cannot make a difference.
