Good question George, good question… Where **is** the opposition to this?
The opposition seems happy to make snide but ultimately inconsequential jokes about Tory christmas parties but the erosion of our civil liberties about to be enshrined in law seems like something a little bit to serious for them comment on perhaps?
Mind you, Blair was always bit of a secret authoritarian so maybe this is yet another issue Starmer is happy to tacitly support as he rewrites Labours ideology. Maybe Starmer actually likes it like that…
The opposition is too busy fighting amongst themselves to save this country of ours
The opposition is doing what it always does, commenting and voting against it. Alas we have a system that grants 100% power to the party that wins in the name of “strong” government. That off the back of about 40% of constituencies or about 11 million votes for the Tory MPs in all. Until some aspects of this change opposition is just there to complain and campaign and can do nothing more.
Kier is busy painting is beige walls a more beige colour of beige.
Keeping quite because that’s how you win elections. That’s the difference this time: Kier wants to win. Others like to shout the right but unpopular answers. I prefer winning.
The opposition is an absolute joke, and the only people you can blame are the idiots who put Corbyn up for leader and the momentum lot.
You made Labour a laughing stock for centuries to come. Well done.
It would help if they had at least some of the media on their side. It is easy to be overlooked when even the Guardian are not really on Labour’s side, they are just not on the Tories’ side. Labour have a lot of internal issues to deal with, however they cold fix all those and still be in trouble as a result of most of the media being happy to give the Tories so much more airtime.
