> O’Leary also referred at the time to the airline tax our country has implemented and also cites that tax in a press release today as one of the reasons for his decision. “Our aircraft will go where there is growth and where our low-cost model is facilitated,” he said. “If we get a better deal with another airport, we’ll move.”
i.e., let us exploit you and everyone else or we fuck off
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
oh no! Anyway…
Can’t have anything cheap in this country.
While I’m sure a lot of people enjoy and appreciate the low-cost flights for their holidays, wouldn’t it be great if Europe as a whole decided to put those taxes in place for all flights?
Yes, flying would become more expensive, but this might mean that taking the train becomes -finally- less expensive than flights for medium-distance travels, so people might look in that direction.
Oh well, one can hope.
I’m sorry for anyone whose job depends on Ryanair, but hey, that would be a little good news for the noise pollution we get from the airport. I live close to one of the routes.
Good. Flying needs to be a privilege for the rich!
Arent the majority of their long distance flights based out of CLR anyways? I fly with them at times for work and it’s always been from CLR.
I honestly dont care about short flights getting cancelled. Actually I do care, I wish most short flights dissapeared.
They will still be some Zaventem Ryanair flights but using planes based elsewhere. (Actually it means no more 6am “red-eye” flights from BRX since the planes have to first get here).
Finally! Now do Charleroi too!
>”Vorige week heeft het bedrijf te kennen gegeven dat het niet akkoord is met de federale vliegtaks. Dat gaat over 10 euro voor vluchten onder 500 kilometer, Ryanair heeft zo geen enkele vlucht, en de vliegtaks van 2 of 4 euro voor middellange afstanden.”
Is it me or are those ridiculously low numbers? It should be something like €100 for sub 500km flights. What’s the point of those 10 euros. That will make nobody rethink their decision to buy a ticket for such a short distance.

Bye bye, and stay away!
Good.
Maybe that solves the staff shortage as well.
