€850 for Mon-Fri?? Pure greed

  1. She’s looking for a professional to live there on student hours. Unfortunately, she’ll manage it since so many are desperate right now but she won’t have them stay long.

  2. So not a student but a professional who presumably doesn’t live in the city where they work?

It’s quite possible that this is part of the Rent-a-Room Scheme. From my reading of the scheme, there are feck all standards and is wide open for abuse in the current housing crisis.

  3. What would be reasonable for a student Monday to Friday?, I mean ok you’re cutting ~8 days off the month but it’s bills included.

I’ve seen places at around that much with meals in for students.

  4. Have heard of a few people thinking of putting spare rooms up on these terms looking for a young professional. Previosuly you could target a student from down the country who was happy with that setup but it seems to have passed to young professionals in their first or second job which is shitty.

  5. I recently saw a room for 600€. Also Mon-Fri and you had to SHARE THE FUCKING ROOM WITH SOMEONE ELSE! They earn 1200€ for a crappy room 5 days a week. Dublin really managed to push my hate from the systemic level of being angry at corporations to the individual where I just loathe landlords themself.

  6. We should make changes to the law to stop these types of listings. The other day I seen a garden shed listed as a garden room for €1,100pm. There’s needs to be a standard for housing and penalties dished out for breaching these standards. Hotel’s star ratings are based on amenities, services as well as the size of rooms and are priced according to their ratings

  7. Sounds like a right creepy shitehawk too. Wonder if there a lock on the bathroom door. Probably not, in Mr creepy’s house.

  8. Where do you go on the weekends? Are you just supposed to sleep in the street? Seeing a lot more of these lately

  9. Why does she only offer Mon to Fri? What is she doing over the weekend that she doesn’t want to share the house?

  10. I don’t think anyone will go for that..

I imagine the woman advertising this standing with arms crossed and an eyebrow raised all the time.

Also, if you did, waste as much electricity as you can in your room.

  11. I’d love to sleep on the street in front of her house on the weekend. Show her that greed has a direct consequence on other humans wellbeing.

  12. What’s the issue with the Mon-Friday thing in principal? Or is it the price? Like if that’s dublin 4 or something and a nice room, it doesn’t sound bad in today’s market

For a short time I rent out the spare room in my apartment on Airbnb, but only during the week, Mon-Friday. Eventually I ended up with 2 regulars. It ended up 1 guy stayed every Monday as he had a lecturing job in Dublin 2 days a week, but lived mainly in Galway. Another guy from Wexford stayed Tuesday to Thursday as he had work in Dublin. Both of them paid something like €25 to €30 per night. They were both delighted as they didn’t have to fork out for a Hotel and had a regular spot to stay in, just sent me a text if they needed to cancel. it suited me as I liked having the place to myself on weekends.

I doubt these were the only people for whom Mon-Friday is suitable, so if you’re paying reduced rent, what’s the issue? Lots of people work in Dublin and go home on the weekends…

  13. just another person who’s try to sub let her way out of money trouble? been done twice in the past by 2 innocent girls lol

  14. If you are under the age of 35 this cost of living crisis is not new. I’m 31 and its been ongoing my entire adult life
