Renewable energy is the only way out of this mess

  1. People have been encouraged to get things like solar panels for at least the last 15yrs, but why think about the future when you’ve got holidays to go on. Most people have continued to sleep walk into the disaster while wasting energy. Sitting in their homes in the winter in t-shirts because the heating is on so high, using tumble dryers rather than hanging clothes on the washing line, showering at least twice a day. We have become so wasteful and taken it all for granted, and some people just have no idea. Someone claimed to me that having the oven on for one hour costs the same as using a slow cooker for 8 hours…a slow cooker costs 27 pence in total for 8 hours, most ovens will cost at least 70 pence for one hour.

  2. I mean i have been on octopus for years which is allegedly a 100% based on renewables, prices still going up like everyone elses.

  3. Net zero is why were in this mess?
51% of electricity in the UK is generated from gas because it’s cleaner than other fossil fuels.
24% wind but the problem with it’s not always reliable, 9% coal?

The push for zero which in part is noble is fundamentally the reason why The UK has been hit particularly hard, we should’ve looked at how we can use our natural coal resources in cleaner Ways also nuclear a Long time ago!

  4. See i would belive this, if it wasnt for companys saying “100% Renewable Energy” and then still putting prices up with the rest.

  5. the Torygraph posting about renewables? We are getting desperate now aren’t we if the rightwing media is even talking about green energy

  6. The price of electrity is linked to the price of gas regardless of how it is generated.
Seems mad, but I’m told the reason is to enable international trading of elec through the interconnectors.

  7. It’s too little, too late. The energy requirements of civilisation are always increasing and we’re now looking at trying to survive during what’s basically an extinction event.

We’re going to need nuclear, we’re going to need lots of it and we’re going to need to dedicate a lot of that base energy production to things like carbon sequestration and desalination on a massive scale.

  8. And nuclear. Really irks me how people are afraid of the radiation when coal emits far more radiation into the local area.

  9. I do agree but what do you do when there’s no wind or sun? UK went with gas as it’s back up which is why The prices are insane?

What we should’ve done is invested in clean coal Technology(yes it does exists ) and nuclear!
