  1. I’ve finally caved and signed up at a private dentist.

The worst thing is I’m lucky enough to be on the books at a local NHS dentist. But I have had my appointments cancelled 4 times in the last year and the reschedules were 2 – 4 months pushed back. I got fobbed off because the work that would help wasn’t imperative “right now” so I was told it could be done in 6 months after my next check up. Its now been over a year and the tooth is fucked to the point its likely just going to have to come out.

The state of NHS dentists is by design imo though. Tories know full well their funding won’t make them a success.

  2. This is what we voted for, we voted for this in 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2010. We don’t want good public services we want to blame minorities and the woke for our problems.

  3. I have both a private and an NHS dentist, the NHS is my regular dentist, the private dentist is because I needed a course of specialist gum treatment ( thankfully it’s been successful. ) If I’d waited on the NHS for this I probably would have have lost a lot of teeth i.e. it was urgent.

Cost of NHS dentist £65.20 ( all treatment in band 2 )

    Cost of private dentist £1945 ( 1 consultation, 2 treatments and 1 checkup. )

Private is amazing don’t get me wrong, the level of care is superb, but you pay though the teeth for it. ( pun intended )

  4. my dentists surgery has 1 ‘proper’ dentist, the otehrs are basically trainees, I was in there a month or two ago and there was a dental nurse actually crying because she was so sick of working there

  5. Any party that runs on a platform of “we’ll make sure you have a warm affordable home and you won’t die of tooth abscess” will basically win politics forever at this point.

  6. The dental practice I am registered to, are looking for a NHS dentist some of the dentists at the practice there do a mixture of private and NHS work

The dental owner did not want to go nearly all private but covid19 hit.

  7. There is no point trying to find one near me anymore and I cannot afford to go private. I just have to pray things stay alright and that I can go every other year, not every six months, to keep costs down.

  8. This has been a problem for a while. In my area I was told the waiting list for getting registered for a NHS dentist was 6 months. I got put on the list and never heard anything. That was 8 years ago. I now have a private dentist, but it’s ridiculously expensive.
