This Is How Much Petrol, Beer And Coffee Would Cost If They Increased At The Same Rate As Energy Bills

  1. >If petrol costs increased at the same rate as household bills, you could be forking out £400-£500 to fill up your tank. And if the same hikes were applied to the cost of an average family home, a property of £281,000 would shoot up to over half a million pounds.

    >If applied to your favourite drinks, a pint of beer could cost £33 while the average coffee could cost a scorching £28.

    Give it time

  2. So they’re saying that it’s going to get worse and a £28 coffee is what we have to look forward to, awesome.

And from the other story in this /r, not only will it cost £28, it’ll give you throat cancer.

This day keeps on getting better and better.

  3. Is this one of those tactics where you pretend something really bad has happened to soften the blow for something slightly less bad happening?

“£250 to fill up my car? Ah well at least it’s not £500”

  4. that doesn’t make a word of sense, they’ve said that the increase on a £281K house is that it increases by 78% to £500K, yet a pint of beer, let’s say that is £6 for the sake of argument, that’s increasing by 450% to £33 – so what’s all that about?

  5. Give it time.

When the sh*t hits the fan it will only be the mega rich who will not suffer, and been in the EU wouldn’t make any difference. Currently Germany pays more for energy than anywhere else in Europe, followed by some of the Scandinavian countries
