  1. Doesn’t have to be fashion. I know a lad walking down the quay in town with his new camera around his neck and they called him Peter Parker.

No idea why but it was hilarious.

  2. I always see people saying shit like

    >I hate that you can’t wear what ever you want in Ireland because people are so judgemental waaaaa

No one cares. Literally the majority of people on the street do not give a fuck how you dress, and why would you care if they didn’t like how you look anyway.

If you want wearing whatever you want to become the norm then be the change you want to see and stop conforming to societal norms.

  3. Repost aside, it is always lads who wear the same shirt, jeans and brown shoes combo who are hypercritical of other people’s clothes. Which just makes it all the more funny.

  4. This joke has been reposted more times than my favorite faded blue jeans have seen the washing machine

  5. Chap in my class was called “Soup” for three years all because he wore a Simon Fun Run t-shirt to P.E one day and it had a small ‘Knorr’ logo on the bottom.

  6. I can’t wear my red striped top out anymore because someone without fail will call me ‘Wally’.

  7. Irish people tend to have a habit of recycling urban myths like this as having happened to “insert someone they vaguely know”.

Having heard the joke a thousand times before I don’t have the heart to correct them but I also get filled with such an inane rage so as to make me want to take their eyeballs out with a spoon.

    This is one such story.

Honourable shout out to the following:

    – person with a pet snake that started stretching out beside them with a view to eating them
    – Bono and Bruce Springsteen having dinner in “insert establishment” and someone asks Bruce to take a picture of them with Bono
    – the American girl who heard “thanks Penneys” so much she thought that was how to say thank you in Irish.
    – “lob it up me boss”
    – the lad who pulls a girl and the rope…

    The list goes on…

  8. I wore an electric blue rain jacket with the candy apple red bottom of my Adidas tracksuit in Cork City center in 1995 and a rough I went past just stopped and said “What the fuck is that all ‘bou!?” Miss the city center unfiltered roughs. They were intimidating but fair in their way.

  9. My husband wears glasses and we were in Dublin grabbing some lunch one day. We are both mid 30’s and he was wearing a suit for work.

Someone walked past and say ‘alright specky 4 eyes’ to my husband as they walked past us. Lad was also in a suit and probably in his 30’s.

We both looked at each other like what?!??

Still gives us a good laugh.

  10. I love leopard print clothes. Every single time I wear something leopard print, some bright spark will call me Bet Lynch. She’s hasn’t been on the telly in decades. Think it’s time they got more up to date pop culture references 😂

  11. Have a yellow fluffy Levi’s hoodie I wear out from time to time and I have been called both minion and big bird because of it, I don’t mind tho it’s funny

  12. Went on holidays to Spain with family, all of us Irish. I was called Jesus for wearing Birkenstocks around the pool. While he wore socks and trainers. In 30 deg heat.

  13. One time on my way to fibbers some yolk screamed right at me. ‘heor yumfla, wird yi get yor bubblegummers’.

To this day, I don’t know what she was talking about.

  14. I once wore an Eminem t shirt when I was younger and a bunch some grown lad pointed it at my chest and said “eminem haha” then kept going. No clue if he was making fun of me or eminem, still pretty weird

  15. Shout out to the girl in highschool (America) who proudly wore her new red coat and got called Carmen Sandiego all day. She never wore it again but couldn’t shake the nickname.

  16. Me and my friend group went out one night all in back dresses, the amount of times people said”if it isn’t girls aloud🤣
