This is a giant pile of shit on average upper class Russians who are main opposition to Putin in the first place (they have good jobs to actually think not only about surviving). These visas could be used not only for tourism but for other purposes as well. This is a giant mistake.
I’m curious if this is a violation of the Schengen Agreement. Anyway, Russians still can fly to countries that have not introduced such a ban, such as Germany or France, and then travel by car or train to the countries they are interested in, so in practice this move simply increases the cost of traveling to these countries, but in no way does not make them impossible.

17 September would be better, in recognition of russian tourism in 1939.
