  1. Greek souvlaki*
I went to Crete for a month this summer and ate so much delicious greek food. The greek food over here in comparison is depressing.

Also I want to give a shout-out to greek cuisine. It’s genuinely the best in the world for me. A little bit of ouzo with Kleftiko, stifado, moussaka, gyros, feta, it’s absolute heaven.

I’ve been to Naxos, Thessaloniki, Athens, santorini, skiathos, skopelos, Rhodes, Crete, and Cyprus and I’ve loved all of it. When I retire in 50 years I’ll move to Greece hopefully lol

Edit: I also have a greek ex girlfriend and I loved going to their house because her mom always made the best food, tried lots of local dishes

  2. I wouldn’t pay more than 4€ for that tbh with current prices.

Before the inflation and Ukraine war 3€ maximum

  3. Και μετά λέμε για την Μύκονο, οι καλοί και αθώοι Νορβηγοί δες τι κάνουν

  4. Norge!

Ελληνικο σουβλακι με επιλογη αναμεσα σε κοτοπουλο, αρνι η χοιρινο

Σερβιρεται με πατατες, τζατζικι και σαλατα

  5. Cost of ingredients: 1 euro

    Cost of recipe: 21.10 euro

It’s just how it is. In Greece (Athens) a souvlaki like that costs 2.20, which you need 4 of (at least) to feel full (as a guy). That’s ~9 euros for 1 meal. Greek average salary is, last I checked, around 800 euros. So you’d need approximately 1/3rd of your salary to eat this every day.

It used to cost about 1.50 but with every excuse and opportunity these guys find they raise the price. Last time it was “problems with the pork supply chain”, now it’s “war in Ukraine”…And it’s always going up, never down.

  6. I mean, it seems normal to me, given that it’s in Norway, or? Definitely wouldn’t pay the same in Greece, but look the difference in the median salary

  7. Where in Norway is this? Also, it’s 22 euros but probably you shouldn’t tell them how much you’re making per month 😋 Comparatively it’s not that much (doesn’t look very tasty though).

  8. The price of food in general in Norway is absurd. I was there in 2016 and I remember paying 20+ Euros for a very mediocre quesadilla. I was also weirded out that lunch time is 11am; that’s when I am usually having my breakfast…

  9. Here in few months will be 30 euros, so you are good lol. In Greece something like this at a restaurant would be around 10-15 depends which one. The average salary in greece though is 1200 and the basic 700. How much is that, 3-4 times less than you up there ?

You got a souvlaki with some greek salad and tzatziki, its okish i guess

  10. Souvlaki?

I see no souvlaki in this picture. This is some pathetic small peace of roasted meat with some veggies.

Don’t buy this rip off please.

  11. I don’t see what’s wrong with this, I mean sure it’s expensive compared to Greece but so is everything else in Norway

  12. Απο μικρη ηθελα να παω στη Νορβηγια. Δε τα καταφερα, ισως καποια στιγμη θα παω.

    Ευχαριστω για το post.

Να ξερω που τα ΜΗΝ παω.

  13. You can make some yourself, the recipe is pretty simple.

Buy some pork or chicken, cut it in cubes, rub them with oregano+salt+pepper with olive oil (or any cooking oil) as a binder, thread the pieces in a metal skewer, a preheated large pan, and cook them at high temperature.
(You can use an oven with a grill alternatively, but a pan is better)

For tzatziki, put some yogurt in a bowl, add salt, olive oil, vinegar, garlic paste, and shredded cucumber. Mix the ingredients. For best results refrigerate for a day, but can be consumed immediately.
