  1. RIP. This is a strange feeling. It feels like someone in my own family has died. Like a pillar of stability that has always been in my life has disappeared.

    What a bleak, sad day.

  2. Monarchy is a weird thing.

    A piece of history and a further connection to the past gone. A moment for that at least.

  3. Awful news. She has been a constant in pretty much every single persons life in this country for several generations.

  4. I knew she wouldn’t be living for much longer when she complained about stiffness last year when she had covid, but it surprised me how fast it all went today.

    Never thought i’d see King Charles.

  5. Calling on discord with my British friend watching the live stream together, we were chatting until suddenly they said ‘Buckingham Palace released a statement’. We were dead quiet for 2 minutes straight. Devastating, so weird to have someone that reigned 70 years gone, just like that

  6. I’m American, so why should I care?

    But I do. And it’s crazy. Like yeah she was gonna pass one day. I just didn’t expect it now, I guess.

    End of an era the world over.

  7. 🙁

    Obviously it had to happen at some point but feels incredibly strange since she’s just been “there” for as long as I can remember. Kind of like a distant relative you hear from once in a while almost.

    Really one of a kind. One of my favorites is [her first speech from 1940](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJI9LPFQth4). Holy fuck that’s 82 years ago. ;;

  8. RIP. Funny that we in India are celebrating because our star batter finally scored a century after 3 years. What a shocking turn of events
